Connecting a Telegram Bot

Create a Telegram bot

1. Open Telegram and message @BotFather
2. Send /newbot and follow the prompts to create your bot
3. Copy the bot token that BotFather gives you

Connect to Chatonio

1. Go to Admin → Projects → [Your Project] → Channels
2. Create a new Telegram channel
3. Paste your bot token
4. Click Set Up — this registers the webhook with Telegram

That's it! Messages sent to your Telegram bot will now appear in your Chatonio inbox, and the AI will respond automatically.

Important notes

• Each Telegram bot can only be connected to one Chatonio channel
• If you need to move a bot to a different project, tear down the channel first
• The bot token is stored encrypted in the database
