What is the Chatonio App?
Chatonio ships as a native desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Download the installer for your platform, run it, and Chatonio opens in its own window with native notifications — no browser tab needed. If you log in at chatonio.com from a desktop browser, the app will also offer you the right download automatically.

macOS
The Mac app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without security warnings. There are two builds — pick the one that matches your Mac:
Chatonio-arm64.dmg — for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later).
Chatonio-x64.dmg — for Intel Macs.
Not sure which one you have? Open the Apple menu → About This Mac: “Chip: Apple M…” means Apple Silicon, “Processor: Intel…” means Intel.
Download the DMG for your Mac.
Open the downloaded file and drag Chatonio into the Applications folder.
Launch Chatonio from Applications (or Spotlight) and log in.
Windows
Download Chatonio-Setup-x64.exe.
Run the installer. It installs just for your user account — no administrator rights needed — and adds Chatonio to the Start menu.
Launch Chatonio and log in.
About the SmartScreen prompt: the Windows installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show an “unknown publisher” warning when you run it. This is expected — click More info, then Run anyway to continue.
Linux
Download Chatonio-x86_64.AppImage.
Make the file executable: right-click it → Properties → allow executing as a program, or run chmod +x Chatonio-x86_64.AppImage in a terminal.
Double-click (or run) the AppImage to start Chatonio and log in.
The AppImage is not code-signed. If you want to verify your download, compare its checksum against the published SHA256SUMS.txt.
After installing
Allow notifications when the app first asks (you can change this later in Settings → Notifications). You’ll get desktop alerts for new messages whenever the app is running — even minimized or behind other windows. Alerts stop if you quit the app, so keep it running during your shift.
Pin it: drag the Chatonio icon to your Dock (macOS) or right-click its taskbar icon → Pin to taskbar (Windows) for one-click access.
Uninstalling: on macOS, drag Chatonio from Applications to the Trash; on Windows, use Settings → Apps → Installed apps; on Linux, simply delete the AppImage file.
Automatic updates
Once you’re running this version, Chatonio keeps itself up to date automatically — you won’t need to come back to this page for future releases. Shortly after the app starts, it quietly checks for a newer version and downloads it in the background:
Windows & Linux: the update is applied in place the next time you open the app.
macOS: the update installs the next time you quit and reopen Chatonio.
If you’re upgrading from an older build that predates automatic updates, just download the latest installer above one more time — after that, updates take care of themselves.
